Lidge pitching in the 7th?

Postby dawgs2010 » Wed Jun 28, 2006 3:07 pm

Does this mean he is no longer the closer? Or was he just there to get out of a serious jam?

Lidge came into today's game in the 7th inning after Pettitte left with the bases loaded. Astros were losing so I'm not sure what that says about his role, but he allowed a run to score on a wild pitch. Qualls and Wheeler haven't been great either so maybe he still gets the save opps.

One would think he was there to get out of the jam... Seriously doubt he lost the closer role.

Yeah, the game could have gotten out of hand there...they brought in their best pitcher to put out the fire. While he let one in on a wild pitch he did strike out 3 out of 5 hitters without giving up a hit or walk.
