Notice I start with the number 2, because Carlos will outproduce all of those guys. He runs, he drives in runs and even drives the ball out of the park onec or twice a week. Why in the name of heaven would you want to trade Beltran for any of those relative bums?

well, the reason I would like to trade him is that for the top three teams in the stolen base category, the positions are absically locked. So his sb's could fetch me somethign decent in a trade I would think. Not eager to do so though, can stand pat too. I was hoping to try and leverage those sb's for some trade like carlos/penny (or soemthign similar) for chipper and mussinna or something. That may be unrealisitc though. Or something like bernie williams/everett and brown/pedro for that offer. I coudl use the pitching help, and the reason I asked that is to generally see who I shoudl try for first.
I should add that I am aware that any of them woudl eb a downgrade in the outfield. But I still do have giambi, manny, bagwell, brett boone and rolen on my squad (eleven team league). So I could afford a mild downgrade I think...
well i guess I see your logic then. Beltran's trump card is definitely the stolen bases. I do not agree with your logic that you can survive this mild downgrade. I mean...Beltran is a better hitter than all those guys anyway. Chipper has the advantage of the braves lineup, but its still a toss up between the two I think. If you're set that you can take a downgrade in the outfield though, why would trade an outfielder for an outfielder? Thats more like a donation than a trade. If you want to downgrade the outfield, score an infielder or a pitcher along with a lower outfielder. I think you ahve the right idea with th beltran/penny for chipper/mussina deal, though that is not likely to go down...its the right idea though, i like that one.

the two fro two is really what I was thinking all along, sorry if I didn't make that clear. Basically, I am trying to find a way to leverage beltran into a decent replacement and a good pitcher. may nto be possible. The one thing I can do is either trade him to a noncontending team, but that team can take the stolen base points away from two contenders with beltran's serivices. Or trade him to a contending team who stinks in sb's, so they may be willign to overpay. Otherwise I stand pat. But I sure could use another starter I think. Zito just isn't getting it done lately.
