Can this team stay in contention?

Postby Singles » Sun Jun 25, 2006 2:14 pm

Any suggestions/comments on this roster? Its a keeper league but I'm more interested in this year then future years so keepers aren't that important to me.

14 team 5x5 roto. Keeper league
We have no reserves but 20 DL slots. (I think this is crazy)
Everyone on roster starts for the week. (Hence the two catchers)

Can this team stay in contention (currently in 4th place overall) or should I look for upgrades? Who should I try to deal and for what for?

Thanks to all

I'd stand pat but make these minor changes:

1) Pick up a third closer if there is one to be had. He'll help in ERA & WHIP.

2) Shelton is WAY overrated because of the fast start. First I'd try to trade him to some gullible owner who thinks he's still hot. If there's no market for him then dump him outright.

3) Coco's batting 8th in Boston now so keep him on a short leash. No RBI's in the 8 spot of that lineup.

4) Sizemore, Ramirez, Utley, Napoli, and F-Rod are untouchable in a keeper league. Do not trade under any circumstances.

How many keepers do you get anyhow? If your league is like mine where you only get to keep 5 guys I dont know that I would keep Ramirez over some of the other guys but that is besides the point.

Your team should definately stay in contention though your pitching seems very weak especially if Smoltz is hurt and Robertson and some of the other surprises on your roster come back to their norms. Is anyone available on the ww for you to potentially pick up?

I would agree with the above poster that if you can get someone to take Shelton you should strongly consider it. And if you could find someone to take Crisp off your hands that is betting he will be batting at the top of the order soon than I would do that as well.

Good luck the rest of the way!

Hi!

My advice...

Trade Young right after he makes another good start. Try to get a third reliever.

I might also try and turn Smoltz into another P and maybe some rookie power.
