I picked up Colorado infielder Jamey Carroll off the scrapheap a couple of weeks ago based on his three position infield versatility (2b, SS, 3B), and a cursory review of his stats over the past month. I had been looking for a utility-type player to take the place of Rich Aurelia, who I always liked to keep tucked away, or Rob Mackowiak circa 2005. Now my quandry is that I can't seem to take the guy out of my lineup - he bats leadoff every night, fills the damn statline day after day and I can't seem to bench him.
He looks pretty good right now, however I don't know that he'll sustain that .340 BA. When that drops, he doesn't appear to have much speed or power to make him useful. His position eligibility is nice though.
can i join!!!?? pretty please I picked up the guy about a week ago, and have been starting him ever since.. i love the fact that he has helton holliday and atkins all behind him.. cant get much better then that..i dont expect the average to stay this high, but 290-300 is reasonable, with lots of runs..plus the position eligibility.. meee likeeey
im actually the personal trainer for jamey caroll, scott rolen and brad wilkerson. They all do hit training if you know what that is. One set to failure after warmups. None of this everyday , volume or 5x5 crap
i'd like to sign up but as a leadoff hitter, he needs to get more SBs. i guess he's not that fast as he has more CSs than SBs. basically, hes only good for runs and AVG, and im not sure that AVG will hold up.
his contact rate is 87.1%, walk rate is 9.08%
his contact rate says he might keep up a 300+ avg but its a small sample size.

Is anyone else out there having this difficulty?
Glad to see people with interest in Jamey. He recently signed with the Twins this offseason. We are looking for big things from him.
