Giants manager Felipe Alou said Armando Benitez, who blew a save Friday, is dealing with right elbow tenderness and might return to the disabled list. Tim Worrell is still struggling, but he'll probably be the choice to close while Benitez is out. At least he has turned in two scoreless appearances in a row. Jeremy Accardo would also be a possibility, though he's not having a great month either. Jun. 24 - 7:55 pm et
I wonder if Accardo would take over? There is a blurb on Accardo's CBS sportsline profile that has Alou quoted that he would be his first choice for saves if Benitez went down.

More yuck that you're counting on Benitez for saves at this point with the Giants averaging like one save chance a week.

Noone said I was COUNTING on him for saves, at this point I have 4 closers (Fuentes, Benitez, T. Jones, Otsuka). But still it would still be somewhat of a hit going from 4 closers to 3 temporarily, so I'd like to add another.

Benitez only has six saves on the season...what exactly do you think you're losing?

Accardo got the save tonight but the Giants were expecting that Benitez would be good to go for tonight's game so maybe he'll be back any day or maybe he'll end up doing some time on the DL. We'll see.
