I'm in a Yahoo 5x5, Head to Head league, and you can only change your rosters on Sundays. There are 12 teams total in this league, and as the commish, it's quite embarassing to be stuck in last place!

Some of these players are different than the ones I've drafted, but I am pretty set with what I've got. I went into this season "punting" my Saves category, something I don't want to repeat next season.

I have a lot of bench position players, and tend to mix and match depending on who's had a really hot week. Anyway, here's my current roster and players by position:

C: D. Ross
1B: A. Pujols
2B: C. Utley
3B: K. Youkilis
SS: J. Peralta
OF: J. Bay
OF: A. Kearns
OF: M. Ordonez
UT: B. Philips
B: K. Johjima
B: R. Baldelli
B: D. Eckstein
B: M. Mora
B: C. Crisp

SP: B. Zito
SP: B. Myers
RP: Jo. Johnson
RP: K. Escobar
P: J. Marquis
P: J. Blanton
P: D. Davis
DL: R. Harden

I play in this league with some guys from my job, and they all do their research. I sense that they're, for the most part, hesitant on making deals though.

I'm trying to improve this team any way I can. Please give me your suggestions! I also know Pujols being inserted into my lineup this week really helps me, but I was struggling before he got hurt!

The problem is that your pitching isn't any good. You need to improve your starting rotation and get a couple of closers. You'll have to lose Pujols and maybe Utley too to get that staff in shape.

If I lose Utley and Pujols, I'll be losing the offensive categories every week though!

Crapola. :(

Jennings from COL was added, and Eckstein dropped.

I would plug baldelli in there if I were you and try your damnedest to trade for some pitching. Maybe trade Utley and Escobar for an ace and try to pick up a decent 2B option on the wire.

That's the one true strength of my team I feel I can trade away,

Utley and Phillips are both very good options at 2B, and I can afford to lose one of them.

I'll go fishing.

Of my current pitchers, which is the weakest and should be dropped if a multiplayer deal pops up and I need to drop one?

I'm starting to think Myers might be the first to go; his legal trouble could affect what he does on the field.

Thanks for your input on mine.

I think you could simply shuffle in some starters like Johnson over Myers. Myers taking a leave of absence due to his impending family & legal problems may adversely affect his value to your team. Personally, I feel that Escobar is subpar at best. He has not shown anything even resembling the pitcher often described in threads as having any talent. I consider him expendable.

Baldelli & Johjima may help you in the starting lineup too.

My league is not very solid in terms of trades either so I've been pretty much relegated to the wire to improve my squad so I understand your difficulties. Perhaps there are some young guns left out there... Lester, Reyes, Olsen... that you could switch into your lineup.

I like your adding Jennings. As you know, I am thinking about adding him myself. He could help you.

I know it isn't a vast amount but I hope this helps you at least a little.

Good luck.

your team does have some problems. the biggest is your pitching is not good at all, its even worse now because myers is taking time off after the allegations of him hitting his wife. also you have some underachievers in ur lineup. peralta being the worst offender. also id put baldelli in over kearns hes been of the dl for a little while and hes been hot of late

I agree that you 're going to have to deal Utley for some pitching (hang on to Pujols) and you should go ahead and wither bench or cut Myers... has Marquis been showing any signs of life?

whoever said that Baldelli should be in your lineup is a wise wise man.

What pitching is available on the wire?
