Anyone hear currently or have tried out playing poker professionally? I'm using "professionally" quite loosely here, meaning around 20+ hours a week on a consistent basis.
If not, anyone play high stakes?
Since I recently came off surgery on my knee for tendinitis, I've had a lot of down time, so I've tried out playing poker as kind of a summer job if you may call it. I first started out playing on PokerStars for a week and am now playing on Full Tilt this week. So far in about 10 or so days I've scraped out a sizable profit of $5100. It's something I recommend trying out if you have the bankroll for it.
Ahhh and I have conquered my first pro on Full Tilt.
Nice week too! Just remember that when the off weeks hit, and they will hit. Happens to us all unfortunately.
I typically won't play higher than $4/$8 online, but live is a whole different story, mostly depending on the location and types of players.
I used a middleman company for quite some time that actually paid me to check out new poker rooms. Anywhere from $60 to $120 just to sign up at a poker room I didn't already have an account with, and play for awhile. Plus the actual poker room deposit bonuses of anywhere from $50-$600. Played 40-60 hours per week back then.
Now I just don't have the time for it anymore, but I still play live when I do have the time.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

Depends on your definition of intermediate.

I think most online poker sites are 18+, not sure why legally you can play online at 18, but live at 21.
Anyways, Thats an interesting hand, I doubt I would have called on the flush showing uless I had a good read on the hand history though. I am also pretty good at reading players and seeing tells and online thats nearly impossible (outside of the amounts they bet and how fast they bet/call).
I've never played that much, I have spent 8-10 hours a week online back when I couldn't find a job, but I made small change, nothing major. I make a decent amount off of my friends, but none of them play high stakes. I end up taking everything, but "everything" is not a lot.
I have heard of people making a good living just by online poker. My old real estate broker said he just did real estate for fun (he wasn't very good at it, wonder why), his main think was about 4 hours of poker a day. He said he roughly made 83,000 the year before.
If you have a spare $100 I suggest it, becaquxse I think the minimum is $100 to get an account, but you can play teh cheap tables online and rake up more before going for higher stakes. Only if your confident though.
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

Like someone with a few months experience
A few months? I'd say deposit $100 and play the $5 sit and gos. If you lose the $100, then study up quite a bit before depositing any additional money.
