I've never seen or heard of this happening before in a game. Anyone else?

BALTIMORE -- The ball floated in the air, much closer to the plate than Miguel Cabrera anticipated. It was supposed to be the first pitch of an intentional walk, yet Cabrera wasn't about to let this one get to the catcher.
And so he took a swing at it.
The result was a 10th-inning RBI single that put the Florida Marlins ahead for good in an 8-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night.
The Marlins trailed 5-1 in the ninth before coming back against Baltimore closer Chris Ray, who was 18-for-18 in save situations this season.
Then, with the score tied at 5-5 in the 10th, Hanley Ramirez led off with an infield hit against Todd Williams (1-3). Ramirez took second on a groundout, bringing Cabrera to the plate.
With catcher Ramon Hernandez standing upright and calling for an intentional walk, Cabrera stepped into the soft, outside pitch and drove it to center, scoring Ramirez with the go-ahead run on a swing more likely to be seen in the movies than the major leagues.

Oh my god I LAUGHED SO HARD.
Brought me back to the days years ago where I was a little kid and thought of cheap gimmicks to be able to do this......crate a bat that extends if you press a button....oh my god the memories...
Seriously the funniest thing I've seen in a while -- you have no idea how hard I was laughing when I saw this.
PS: Big props to him for doing it

Pretty pathetic a major league pitcher can't throw the ball far enough away so the guy can't hit it when he's supposed to intentionally walk him.
Good thing he doesn't pitch for Ozzie...

Haha I can see Ozzie coming out onto the field, calmy walking over to him, then violently begin to choke the life out of him.

That takes a lot of guts.
Oh by the way, the Marlins have won 10 of 11. Everything is going right for them right now.
