What's up with Smoltz?

Postby AmazinMeTS86 » Thu Jun 22, 2006 11:08 pm

I was contemplating offering a trade to one of the guys in my league involving John Smoltz. When I clicked on Smoltz the news mentioned him being traded before the deadline possibly to Detroit. Anybody know anything about this situation?

Yeah, he pretty much just told an interviewer that he recognizes that the team has some flaws and said he would be willing to be traded in order to help fill some holes. He threw Detroit's name out there, but there are no talks as far as anyone has heard. It makes sense for both clubs, but I'd say there is only a slight chance it'll happen.

yeh, and the braves have said that andruw, chipper, and smoltz arent going anywhere this summer.

whether that remains to be tru or not is a different story, but if you are counting on him getting traded to a contender, dont.

Smoltz will def. be gone before the trading deadline. He will either be moved to the Yanks, Detroit, Houston or most likely the Red Sox.

What do you base this on? Do you have a link?

I just don't think they'll move him. The farther behind they fall, the better the chance they start trading guys, but it seems unlikely IMO, that Smoltz be traded.

If he is going to Red Sox I think it will have to involved their top prospects John Lester or Properpone.....and I am not sure Red Sox will give that up.....

Detroit is a possbility tho...

He just left the game in the second inning with an apparent injury and was replaced by Villareal.
