The only closer from those that started the season in the closers role, yet to blow a save opportunity is Mike Gonzalez. Chris Ray has just joined the 28 others.

The funny thing is, Mike Gonzalez is still probably considered a bust.

Has pittsburgh won a game this year? You can't blow saves you don't have chances at

It again just re-iterates how difficult it will be for anybody to ever break Gagne's record consecutive save total.

Jeez. The Braves coulda had him this offseason. Instead we stuck with Reitsma...

What are the chances he gets traded at the deadline? Even if he doesn't closer he's an awesome set up guy

no idea, but i dont think his contract is up nor does he make a ton of money (totally guessing here, but i dont think he does), so i would think they'd hang onto him

The Braves could have had Mike Gonzalez? I don't think so. Maybe it was a rumor in Atlanta, but I don't think there was any reality to that from the Pittsburgh end. He was tabbed as the "closer of the future" late last year.

There's almost no chance he'll get traded. He's relatively young, definitely cheap, and someone who won't get traded unless Pittsburgh robs someone blind.

As for a bust? I don't think he is a bust in reality. Maybe in fantasy, but only because he hasn't had a huge number of opportunities. Like was said before, he's on pace for high 20's saves, under 3.00 ERA and roughly one K per inning. Not bad for someone drafted super late among all closers.

I took him pretty late as my 2nd closer.. I've been frustrated with him as it seems he can never just have a clean save without giving up a run or walking 3 guys, but I guess that's what I'm getting at the draft spot I took him. His WHIP is through the roof.

Note: His ERA is over 3.
