Okay guys, I'm going to make an attempt at a well-structured and useful thread about rookies. Well-reasoned posts backed up with actual stats would be the best posts. I'll start it out with a couple easy ones:
King Felix: His 2005 AAA numbers are 88 IP, 100 K, and 2.25 ERA. He obviously is not playing over his head.
Liriano: Minor-league leading K's with 204 in 167.2 IP, with a 2.63 ERA. He's not playing over his head either.
Josh Johnson: His minor-league ERA was 3.46 in 2004 and 3.87 and 2005, which isn't too bad, but his WHIP of 1.50 and 1.35 leaves a lot to be desired. The 8.11 and 7.28 K/9 is decent. I think that we can expect his K's to continue at about the same rate, but that 2.01 ERA and 1.27 WHIP are destined for a rise. Even if he managed to maintain the 1.27 WHIP, that's high enough to require at least a 3.00 ERA.
