Jason Johnson to BoSox

Postby George Bell » Wed Jun 21, 2006 2:39 pm

Ken Rosenthal at Foxsports is reporting that the Cleveland Indians have traded SP Jason Johnson (certainly, not to be confused with Josh) to the Boston Red Sox. The reported deal involves cash considerations. Johnson will replace recently claimed from the scrap heap Kyle Snyder at the back end of the Sox rotation.

You think they'd like to have that Arroyo trade to do over?

What happened to this guy? He was a legit #4 for Baltimore back in the day.
Let's go O's. Let's go Mets.

Bad News for Jered Weaver I guess. Since the Sox were supposedly interested in getting Jeff Weaver which would've freed up a spot for Jered.

There's still the potential Crawford deal though the Gathright deal thins out the logjam there a bit too.

I think Jered would've prefered to play with his brother.

He'll get his shot some day.

Something still might get done. Whose to say this isn't a temporary move, like the Kyle Snider pickup? They didn't have to give up much for Johnson.

Actually, we don't know what they are giving up yet. I've got a question to ask. How does that work when they say for a player to be announced later? Who chooses the player? If its the Red Sox that do, I'd just give them Johnson back once they are able to trade for a decent pitcher. lol.

It won't be any of the big names- most likely a bullpen guy. Johnson could def. help the Sox bullpen with his experience.
