Exactly. My daughter knows she'll get a swat if she tries something like that - so she doesn't try it. She's a really good girl, and it's not an accident. And, truth be told, we have a way better relationship because of that.
We went to a baseball game tonight. There were tons of kids there, some behaving, some not, but I got lots of compliments from folks sitting around us after her mom picked her up (she can't make it past 8pm yet - she's 3
) from the folks around us. She makes a good impression and we both take pride in that. She's cute, intelligent, polite and outgoing. She knows her place and she's very comfortable in it because we make her know her rules, her boundaries and her expectations.
Like I said - good kids aren't an accident. It just takes work to get them to that stage.
