Well, his star has surely dimmed I believe. But I think if/when Sweeney gets dealt or gets injured. Lubanski would be the logical guy to take his place.

Good deal for the Royals. Now all they need is one or two (or ten) more decent pitchers to give the Tigers and Sox a real run for their money.

What they need is a new owner who is not a cheapskate.

Lubanski is still very young (20 or 21), no reason to give up on him.
I have a feeling Butler wont be in KC till late in 2007. It wouldnt surprise me if Gordon was in the starting lineup on Opening Day next year.
I really dont know where Huber fits in this organization now that DDJ is in LF, I'm not sure if Dayton Moore even knows
Sweeney will never be the run-producer that he used to be, he'll log some time on the DL next year and collect his $11 million.

I think there's a good possibility that Moore believed that Howell is at or near his max value and he isn't as good as advertised. Conversely, Moore might view Gathright as a player who has very high potential and whose value is very low right now.
there's a new GM in Tampa too isn't there? so there's still a backlog in the OF, but this helps (yes I'm holding onto Delmon).
I see Gathright is hitting Mendoza, but I thought Tampa's problem with him was lackluster fielding?

Howell's upside right now looks like Brad Halsey.

It's not how rich you are, it's how dedicated you are to the team.
