One other thing on the Royals in general. I can't dig up the quote right now...can't remember exactly where I read it. But basically Dayton (the new GM for those that don't recognize the name) said that there would be no 'firesale' this year but that the team will be looking for 'value-for-value' trades involving their veteran players. Not sure what this means since Grudz, Sanders, et al don't have a hell of a lot of value to begin with...are they going to trade them for other mid-priced, mid-talent veterans?

In any case Dayton is saying that he wants to compete in 2007 so their vet's aren't going to be available for guys that won't be ready to contribute to KC winning in 2007. I'll be curious to see how he pulls that one off but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt considering his reasonably good pedigree.
