How do I copy a background image and paste it behind my player layer?
Great work BTW...although I didn't get very far before I was clueless
Have both windows open (the background image, and sig file)...then click the background image and drag it onto the sig flie.
Thats what I have been trying to do.
Hope you can follow that.
No, I'm a total flippin idiot.
Thanks for the advice, anyhow.
I think I know the problem. Try this:
Instead of trying to drga the pic on, go to the pic and press Ctrl-A. Then Ctrl-C. Then go to the sig file and hit Ctrl-V. The problem is that I think the layer is locked when you open the background file. Does it have a padlock and it says background next to it?

Even if the background is locked, you should be able to move it onto a new document.

My bad. I mixed up that and making new layers under a background. Either way, try the thing I said.

i actually got excited and whe nlooking at one of the stickies ended up downloading gimp.. is it alrite if i stick with that?
Yeah, although I've never used it and don't know how limited it is compared to Adobe. Search for some gimp tutorials instead of the photoshop ones listed here and you should be fine.

ok thanks.. one more question.. ive been trying to find this in a tutorial for a very long time now and its annoying me.. i cant figure out how i cut the background of the player so its only the player there.. ive looked through.. ive tried to find it on the actual program.. but i cant figure it out.. if someone knows please let me know
make sure you put the player on a transparent canvas. NExt you can use the lasso tool to go along the edge of the player and cut out the bg. Or you can simply use the eraser and erase everything around the player.

Yeah, personally I use the eraser, zoom in really close and just erase around the guy. But I can't emphasize enough to make sure the background is transparent (gray and white boxes). Another thing I do, is to put the picture of the guy in the sig, and only erase the parts I need to. For example, if I'm doing a sig of a pitcher...don't bother erasing the area around the legs and stuff. Put the pic in your sig, and just erase what's visible.
