The Angels pitching has been pretty good and they've got maybe the best setup/closer team around. The putrid defense has really masked how good Lackey and Santana are, and with Bartolo back, Jered coming, it should only improve. and Jeff Weaver suddenly started pitching a whole lot better when Jered showed up. But it's been largely going unnoticed because Horrible defense and limited run support has cost them a LOT of wins.

It's that pitching that's kept them within range in the West, so just another hitter (or two) and improved defense, and the team could go on a roll.

Yes, I like the Angels bullpen (at least setup/closer wise). I'm not a huge fan of their pitching but those pitchers sure sometimes totally own the opposing team.

The most likely scenerio for Jered to come back is if one of the pitchers is trade, IMO other than Colon.

Lackey has quietly gotten very good. He's an innings eaters who's only had 2 bad games... Every other game, he's kept the team in it but the team's terrible defense and lack of run support has really depressed his win totals. an SP with 14 starts, 91 innings pitched and a 3.46 ERA and 1.14 WHIP should have a record far better than 4 and 4... and that ERA and WHIP should be even lower, but the defense has given the opposing teams so many extra outs this year.

Just get rid of Jeff and put in Jered and there staff would be excellent.

that would be the roation.. but skill wise weaver would be ahead of santana.. ervin really stinks 2, hes just a young ramon ortiz.. they need to bring up joe saunders.. then trade anderson,erstad,jeff weaver, and santana in a package deal for some power bats
