I am in 2nd place in a 14 team 5x5 leagure. The fellow in last place offered me an extremely lopsided trade in my favor but I turned it down. I wouldn't want it happening to me was my reason.
Now I am worried he'll offer this to someone else and they'll take him up on it.
When I rejected the trade, I told him I appreciated it, but didn't think it was the right way to "give up" and to just set his team up and let them play it out.
that was a very polite thing to do and very classy. hopefully you can prove to the league that you could finish in first by yourself. im sure the fantasy baseball gods will reward your good deed
You did the right thing even though it was very risky. I've had that same thing backfire on me. Respectfully decline and the guy kept offering to all the teams until one of them accepted and it actually went through. Glad that it went well for you.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
well, if he was openly bailing, then you did the right thing.
i got into it with the guys in my league after working out a deal for manny ramirez (gave up casey and kearns, pre-injuries). this owner is a big reds' fan, said it would be easier for him to follow his team if he had more reds. i obliged. he was not "giving up", regardless of how the lopsided trade may have favored me.
but since your boy came out with the white flag, it's a different story. it would have been collusion.
If it's a keeper league, and he was looking to dump salary for next season, then you flat out blew it...and there's nothing unethical about this. In a non-keeper league, congrats on maintaining integrity...but I would immediately inform the commish of the league and urge him to freeze the dumper straightaway.
