i really don't get how wins get you a cy young.

Colon again was a joke last year

Well I didn't say it made any sense, I just said that's how the writers vote.

IMO, Santana is hands down the first half Cy Young winner.

Hands down?

Santana 118.1 9 0 124 2.59 0.96
Liriano 81.1 9 1 94 1.99 0.97

I think that save by Liriano gives him the edge :-D

Go Twins.

Liriano killin it through 6. 2 hits, 3 walks, 0 runs, 7 Ks.

We'll see if he can keep it up. He is absolutely incredible for a rookie...hell for a pitcher...
Basically I'm complicated.
I have a hard time taking the easy way
I wouldn't call it schizophrenia
But Ill be at least two people today

If that's OK

And I can go on, and on, and on...

But who cares?

7.0IP, 4H, 3BB, 0ER, 8Ks

He might be done for the night. Let's hope the bullpen holds on.

The Cy Young award only seems to go to the right candidate when that candidate leads the league in Ws and is a guy who has been in the running for it before.

Even if Liriano has a full point lower an ERA than the next best candidate, if that guy has even one more W, Liriano won't win the award. He's too young, hasn't paid his dues, and the sportswriters are too high on the W stat.

That statement is absolutely ridiculous.

Fernando Valenzuela won it as a rookie in 1982.

At the end of the season, you might just settle in for a nice plate of crow.

If the voting took place tomorrow, I don't see how anyone but Liriano could win the award. Don't get me wrong, Santana has had a great season, but Liriano has been downright incredible. If he continues this in the second half of the year and doesn't win the award, I will lose all respect for the Cy Young.

If Wins are what the writers are looking for, well, Liriano's got that base covered as well. X-I

TBH I'd give Liriano the Cy Young and Papelbon the ROY at this point.
