Expos' Vargas on 15-day DL

Expos right-hander Claudio Vargas was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday because of tendinitis in his pitching shoulder.

The move is retroactive to Aug. 6, and the team called up left-hander Scott Downs from Triple-A Edmonton.

Vargas is 6-8 with a 4.58 ERA.

Downs returns to the majors for the first time since 2000 when he went 4-3 with a 5.17 ERA for Montreal and the Chicago Cubs. He was 7-8 with a 4.05 ERA for Edmonton this season.





this guy shouldnt be on your team in the first place, but if he is, just more reason to let him loose.
