This is not breaking news. Cardinals fans knew this years ago.

hate to break it to ya, but phillies fans knew he was a pansy back when cardinal fans were singing his praises[/quote]

Here's one Cards' fan that never sang the praises of J.D. I still can't believe he threw away a year of his life (1997).

After the Phillies drafted him and (I believe) offered him more $ than any college player had ever been offered at that time - it still wasn't enough for J.D. and agent Scott Boras. So instead he spent a year in St. Paul, playing indy-league ball! I never blamed Phillies' fans for booing him (although throwing batteries at him was going a little too far).

When he first came to St. Louis and hit .400 in 20 games or so, they compared him to The Natural, and wondered if he'd have a Musial-type career here. But I knew even then that if someone ever offered him $ 10 more to play elsewhere, he'd be gone.

(Whew! Always enjoy ranting about my 2nd least favorite big leaguer - next to Bonds.)

Fortunately Jocketty was smart enough to get something from Atlanta for Drew before he became a free agent. And we're still reaping benefits from that deal Wainwright (very bright future), Marquis (not pitching great, but tied for MLB lead in W's), and A. Miles (from Col for R. King).

I hear that. I just picked up Kemp last week. From the sound of things, though, Little is going to find ways to get him on the field.

The only thing surprising here is that you thought anybody else was particularly high on him. You're probably smarter hundreds of times every day than you were on that occasion...

Doughhead wrote:From Rotoworld:

June 16 The Los Angeles Dodgers received some bad news on Friday when lab results revealed that right fielder JD Drew is, in fact, a pansy. After complaining of recurring aches and pains over the past few weeks, the Dodgers sent Drew to St. Louis to visit with specialist Dr. John Yeats. After undergoing a series of tests, the Dodgers were informed that Drew shares DNA with the plant species Viola, more commonly known as the pansy, which is likely to blame for his highly sporadic playing time this season. He was referred to grounds crew staff in Los Angeles for treatment.

Dodgers manager Grady Little expressed surprise at the test results, but also indicated that the team was happy to finally know the cause of the talented, but oft-inured Drew's constant need for extra days off. "Initially it was a shock," said Little. "There didn't seem to be anything physically wrong, but he wasn't able to play every day. So we got him looked at and it turns out he's just a pansy." Although Drew is not expected to miss any extended time in the near future, he will likely continue to be given consecutive days off until team gardeners decide on an appropriate treatment.

;-)

And after that same interview, Drew allegedly made a reference to having Matt Kemp on his fantasy team...

If I recall, there were quite a few Cafers who considered him 'reliable'. I don't know about thinking he was going to be leading the league in anything, but I definitely wasn't one of the ones who thought he'd be a constant.

Drew is putting up pretty decent numbers, yeah, he takes a lot of days off and can be pretty aggravating. He's on pace for more than 100 RBIs and almost 100 runs. His power really isn't there, but I'm hoping that it will come around. He really hasn't been too bad.
