is there some sort of pattern in pi that would allow you to reciept that amount of numbers?

Pi is not "random," but there is no pattern like you're suggesting. He just had to learn it.
How would you keep track of that? How mind-numbing must it have been to sit there and verify his recitation?

Where are you at in Pi?
Pi search strings let you put in a series of numbers and it searches for that string in Pi. If you put your birth date in it'll tell you where you are in Pi.
Putting in the string "082370" I get:
The string 082370 occurs at position 862,791 counting from the first digit after the decimal point.
Can anyone get closer?
