starting pitching question

Just wondering does everyone start their aces after coming off the dl, or wait for a couple of starts? I had oswalt yesterday and didnt want to use him, but it was against the cubs. If prior pitches on sunday, what should I do? In the past, I would start him off the dl, but I cant recall anyone time of my pitchers ever have an outstanding performance off the dl.
