Mike McDougal, closer for the Royals should be back in the next few days. Is he worth a pickup as a lower tier closer?

I realize he won't get a tonn of saves, but at least he'd be the number one closer there, right?

The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton reports Kansas City Royals CL Mike MacDougal (shoulder) experienced no problems while throwing a 30-pitch simulated game and is headed to Double-A Wichita for a rehab assignment Thursday, June 15.

I would pick him up. He will help your ERA WHIP and get you saves. Also it turned out he only pitched a simulated game but will pitch a game on Sunday.

MacDougal is marginally better in bb/9 and hr/9 than the other options...he also seems to have a better temperament for closing. I'll agree that he's not a significant upgrade but he is a bit better. We're not talking Mariano Rivera to Kyle Farnsworth better here but it's something.
