The question is, will he begin his suspension BEFORE tomorrow's game, or after?
I just picked up David Ross as a replacement while Barrett's out. Good move? AND...is Ross really just a replacement, or is he an everyday type dude?
It's about frickin' time, it's a joke that it takes baseball this long to hear the appeal. What have they been doing this whole time? Anyways, Ross seems like a good pickup in the interim for Barrett, I dont know when his suspension will start though.

I'd see if Russ Martin is out there if you can only carry one catcher while Barrett is out. Ross is hot right now but the Reds carry 3 catchers and from what I'm hearing 3-4 starts a week is Ross's ceiling.
As for Barrett's suspension it *could* start before the game or it could be Saturday or even Sunday...just have to watch the news and the lineups on that one.
Anyone hear anything else about when this is going to happen? Since Barrett seems to be needing some time off, and missing 2 games in a row, it seems like the smart thing to do is to just start counting off his suspension time now. Of course, why should the Cubs start doing the smart thing now I just want to get this over with, and not have a 2nd catcher on my roster any longer than I have to.

For them to have counted he would have had to drop his appeal before the first game missed and I've heard nothing about that. I still say it is ridiculous how long it is taking. Couldn't an appeal be handled over a conference call? Couldn't it be setup in some meeting room in Chicago? Is the person in charge of hearing appeals on a month long vacation? What is the deal with all of this? It isn't like the court system which is clogged up with thousands of cases, there's maybe 10 or 20 appeals all season.
