When will Sheets return?

Postby Don G. » Tue Jun 13, 2006 1:51 pm

I'm hearing he's throwing off a mound but that's still not enough information. How long before he actually goes on some rehab starts? Are there any rumors out of the organization? Will he be back early next month, late next month, not next month? Anything?!?!

The only info available so far are two things that I've read:
1) When he threw off the mound he said that he still 'didn't feel right'
2) It will be about 4 weeks from the point where he throws off the mound and he DOES feel right before he will be back pitching in the majors

At this point that would mean his soonest return would be right after the ASB and that's only if he goes out today and has a great session on the mound. I've heard of no further mound sessions scheduled at this point though. :-t

I think he'll be back before August. Mid to late July maybe?

Well if he's healthy he can get me a lot of points in that short amount of time. The sooner the better but I have a good pitching staff as is and they all seem to be pitching well so I'm in no hurry to drop anyone for a guy who's rushed back.

I don't think that there is any point in speculating when he will be back since there has been zero positive news since the injury. One of the Milwaukee newspapers pointed out the obvious question that grows more important with each passing week: how much longer before the Brewers book an appointment with the surgeon and begin looking ahead to '07??? I traded Cantu for him so that would stink, but I am beginning to feel that that will be the probable outcome.

The only problem I see with that is do they really have something on which to operate here? The description of his arm trouble has been so nebulous I wonder if they'd even know what to go in and fix. :-?
