Glaus at SS?

Postby Pogotheostrich » Tue Jun 13, 2006 9:22 am

Jun 13 Jordan Bastian, of Toronto.BlueJays.MLB.com, reports Toronto Blue Jays 3B Troy Glaus could start at short stop when interleague play begins again Saturday, June 17. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said he would like to get more offense in the lineup and he might move Glaus over to short stop and put DH Shea Hillenbrand at third base. If that happens, Gibbons said 2B Russ Adams would start at second base when a right-handed pitcher is on the mound, while SS Aaron Hill would be in the lineup to face left-handers.

Glaus already has 1 start at SS this year. 4 more to go for Yahoo players.

I'd be surprised if Glaus gets 4 games at SS out of those remaining 6, but I suppose it's possible.

Really what this shows me in a backhanded way is how little confidence the Jays management has in their pitching staff right now. Quite simply, when the Jays don't score a bunch of runs, they don't win. 2B and SS have been black holes offensively most of the year too.

I didn't think Glaus could run. He must have the worst range in the league
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

Glaus is a solid fielder. Underrated, IMO.

Glaus does play good D, and he has a strong arm. I've seen him make some nifty plays back in his Angel days.

He is too tall to play at SS, so he won't have enough range at SS. I think Jays need to trade with Angels for Adam Kennedy. ;-D

They tried to trade Shea Hillenbrand for him, but the Angels declined.

Glaus now has started 4 games at SS. So with one more start, at least in my yahoo league, he gains SS eligibility. A huge spike in value.

He plays tonight and tomorrow at Atlanta so he has a pretty good chance at gaining the eligibility SOON. Trade for him now!

He's playing his 5th game at SS right now, so we can all start him at SS next week. I just wish I had someone else to play 3b!
