I mean they have shown some pretty odd stuff that IMO doesn't belong on a sports station. They have showed poker, though w/ it's following I can somewhat understand it. The show the spelling bee, which in no way at all has anything to do w/ sports. Right now, on ESPN2 they are showing domino's? What's next, tiddley winks and pin the tail on the donkey?
ESPN stands for Entertainment and Sports Programming Netork. They're not totally tied to sports only and they have ALWAYS shown the spelling bee and, as they started, with bizarre competitions like World's Strongest Man.
It wasn't until the late 80's when ESPN started showing the NFL did they actually get a following; but they also showed what I consider "quasi-sports" like bowling and billiards; I don't see how any competition is any different, whether it's poker, dominoes or spelling.
Why weren't people complaining when they started showing garbage like reality shows and "original series?'" Believe me, the most agonizing thing they can show other than an more than 10 minutes straight of Stuart Scott's lazy eye is about 30 seconds of Playmakers. Ugh.
No one's mentioned Scrabble yet? I know I've seen that on ESPN before.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
