pitching suggestions?

Postby arenacs » Thu Aug 07, 2003 2:49 pm

I'm in a dogfight in our head to head league. I got out to anearly jump but the guy I'm going to face in the playoffs has a far superior starting pitching staff....although my offense is better then his...i was thinking of keeping my three three closers and switching the rest to starters in the hopes of competing in wins, k's and saves....the problem is that most of the decent pitchers are gone....anyone have suggestions on people who might be called up?...or might have a good second half?

thanks
arenacs

Cliff Lee
Claussen
Gobble

They could be helpful to your team if they get the playing time.

Claussen should be up soon. Gobble's done well so far.

It doesn't look like Claussen will be back this year. This is from Rototimes. Aug. 7 Brandon Claussen (P) Cin won't be recalled to the Reds until he gets his strength back in his surgically repaired arm, which may not happen this season, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. "I wouldn't want him in the big leagues this year, if I have my way," assistant GM Leland Maddox said. "I think in the big leagues he may reach back too far."

Looks like your choices are Thurman, Haren, Tsao or maybe even Scot Shields. Acevedo would have been in there, but he tripped going into the dugout last night and will prolly go on the DL now.

I agree with Thurman Haren Lee and Shields...I don't think I would put a rookie pitcher at Coors on my staff going into the playoffs...
