M. Giles! Will he turn it around?

Postby cards05 » Sun Jun 11, 2006 7:59 pm

OK, is Giles ever gonna pick it up? I did a search for him on here and for some reason it would only let me look at page 1 for the results, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed.

I never want to be the guy who releases a player who turns it around, but I'm getting fed up with him. He is killing my average and not really helping in anything. What do you guys project for him from here on out, and how do you explain his poor performance thus far.

My 2 picks for the 2006 Mike Lowell Award are: Marcus Giles and Aubrey Huff. That's 50% based on performance, 50% just gut and watching them play.

He was dropped 2-3 weeks ago in my 8 teamer. He's still sitting there in the free agent pool. Waive him, there has to be someone better on the wire for you. Betemit is going to begin to steal some at bats anyway, by the looks of things.

He's definitely drop-worthy in a 12-team league. I would have dropped him after 100 AB in an 8-team league. I usually use 200 AB as a drop guideline for established players who you would not draft in the first three rounds. 300 AB for those you would. I held onto Giles a little longer than 200 just because I didn't need the spot but as soon as I did I cut him.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I do think he'll turn it around, but I don't think it'll be enough to be worth waiting for if he does.
