i like wells, but he has slowed significantly since the 1st month IMO...Just an observation. he is streaky and i always had him on my team until this year so maybe im just a little bitter!

I'm a Wells owner and am real confused on what to do with him.

On one hand, while he is streaky he is putting up some great numbers this year and is at the magic age of 27 when everything comes together.....it seems like I would be an idiot to trade him now.

On the other hand, you don't normally want one of your best players to be so streaky. Also, a part of me has a hard time believing that he will continue to put up numbers like this. It might be a smart move to sell high on him and obtain a keeper candidate that is more of a "sure thing".

What to do, what to do......

I might trade him for someone like Andruw Jones. Playing it safe and keeping him isn't a bad idea either. He's certainly a good enough player that it can't hurt you to keep him.

That's why I hate H2H... In roto, it's just about the #s over a season, not one particular week.

Vernon revamped his swing over the offseason.

He now hits to all fields instead of just pulling.....after his first breakout year pitchers got the scouting repot on him and they pitched him outside all the time, and that basically killed his production. So this year he decided to not let that beat him...


It's all in last weeks SI. He's my best OF and I got him in my 20 team league somewhere around the 14th round.

i just traded him away because my team needed pitching help . . . i overpaid a little, but what can you do? at least he hit some home runs in his last days on my team. i'm gonna miss the guy.

What did you get in return for him?

I've thought about trading Wells for some pitching, but i'm not quite sure what I could back from him.

i got zito for him . . . i know i overpaid, but considering that i did have too many outfielders and i needed pitching, i don't consider it overpaying too badly--that is, as long as zito performs. i'm counting on the fact that it's a contract year for him. and the fact that the a's are a second-half team.

Sometimes it's just about what you need. You probably could have gotten more but Zito is solid at the very least

that's what i figured. people in the league i'm in are being really stingy with their trades this year.
