I fequently hear that the Cubs have one of the top farm system in baseball, yet I have rarely seen the results of the home grown talent. Look at the Braves, 7 of the 8 every day starters on their team right now have come from their farm system. Have all of the good prospects just been traded away? Well atleast the Cub's first round pick this year can play, Tyler Colvin hit a walk off grand slam in the college world series yesterday.
Ty Colvin barely made the top 200 and yet the Cubs drafted him 1st round. And they wonder why they haven't had a successful position player come though the minors in god knows how many years.
I guess blind faith has become a staple of not only Cubs fans, but managment as well. I have heard alot about Felix Pie what are his chances getting called up this season?

I guess it has benn discussed and talked about, but he is struggling right now, and they really don't have a spot for it, awhile ago when they didn't have Nevin, it was a possibility because they were talking about playing Matt Murton at first and calling him up to play outfield, but now, I don't see him coming up this year, unless they are 20 games out in July.

Yeah from what I've read he'd just be Corey Patterson-lite.

Pierre was a free agent signing.
Barrett was acquired for Damian Miller (not a farm product).
