Oswalt hurt

Postby The Kavorka » Sun Jun 04, 2006 2:13 pm

Took himself out of the game after tossing warmups.

Looks like back problems.
What are you guys doing?

Here's the news:

Roy Oswalt was scratched from his scheduled start Sunday due to back spasms. Fernando Nieve is pitching in his place.
This after he left his last start with a mild hamstring injury. If Oswalt can't go on Monday, the Astros will have to scramble for a starter. They might have to call up someone from Triple-A. It won't be Jason Hirsh, who started for Round Rock last night. Jun. 4 - 2:15 pm et

We won't be sure till they update his status again. In our league, we submit our lineup weekly and can't make daily changes so I'm not sure what to do? If I bench him- he could end up making two starts this week (tomm + sat or sun) but I hate to start him and he ends up going on the DL or something- that would suck as well. I play in a 10 owner keeper league so there are decent options on the waiver if needed. So I'm waiting and hoping they update Oswalts status ASAP!!!

I get back spasms... It is a day-to-day thing... But, in my opinion, the Astros would be wise to have Oswalt skip one start, and work back slowly... Not just sit around, but throw in the pen on successive days or something to test it out. He could throw Monday on pain killers/muscle relaxers, but it's not a wise thing. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Something tells me a back can get weak by working on a hamstring hard. One might have had something to do with the other.

i dont mind him skipping a start as long as he doesn't go on the DL....my squad is finally starting to come together and climbing up in the rankings in my league and losing oswalt would really hurt.
