Jon Lester to be called up

Postby Havok1517 » Sun Jun 04, 2006 12:36 pm

Rotoworld...

Jon Lester will likely be called up to make his major league debut in one of the games of Boston's doubleheader on Saturday.
David Wells still won't be ready to return, so Lester is being lineup up for the assignment. He had his scheduled start for Pawtucket pushed back from Saturday to Monday. There's a good chance it'd be just one and done for Lester, but if it turns out that he's ready now, he could make a big impact in fantasy leagues. Jun. 4 - 12:29 pm et

It's unfortunate he had to be rushed up because of injury and couldn't be called up because he was ready. That said, I've been waiting for this day for some time. He, Beckett and Papelbon are the future of the rotation so I'm excited to see what he's got.

I got no problem with guys like Lester getting a taste then getting sent back down. They get to see how much their hardwork is worth and what it will be like when they are regulars. I'd like to see Homer Baily, Mike Pelfrey, Phillip Hughes, & Matt Garza in a similar situation. ;-D

Yeah, they've pushed his PawSox start back a day so that it fits into his starting schedule. Just this one major-league start for now.

Like BritSox said, this is not permanent move by any means, just up for a cup of coffee then he's heading back down

Say he pitches 7 shutout innings while k'ing 6, you think they would keep him in the rotation longer?
