The White Sox fan who visciously attacked Royals coach Tom Gamboa last Sept. during a White Sox/Royals game was sentenced to 30 mo. probation today. Gamboa suffered hearing loss in the attack. For anyone who witnessed this assault this is a kick in the groin and a tribute to the White Sox's loutish fans.
30 months?? I'm not sure what cock-eyed laws they have in Chicago, but here in NY, where I'm a criminal lawyer, you can get 36 months probation or up to a year in jail FOR SLAPPING SOMEONE!!! If you suffer hearing loss, that's a felony assault that carries a much longer probation sentence or jail term. The disposition in Chicago is an insult to the victim!!!
If it was a tough case to prove, that might make it a little more explainable. BUT IT WAS ON TV WITH 50,000 WITNESSES!!!!!! If I was Gamboa, I'd be pissed!!!!!!!
