White Sox fan gets probation....

Postby ondeckb » Wed Aug 06, 2003 7:54 pm

The White Sox fan who visciously attacked Royals coach Tom Gamboa last Sept. during a White Sox/Royals game was sentenced to 30 mo. probation today. Gamboa suffered hearing loss in the attack. For anyone who witnessed this assault this is a kick in the groin and a tribute to the White Sox's loutish fans. :-t

He certainly should have gotten at least a few years in jail for that. Just another example of where the law is too lenient. :-/

I guarantee if I attacked a guy on the street I'd be in jail. What a shame.

30 months?? I'm not sure what cock-eyed laws they have in Chicago, but here in NY, where I'm a criminal lawyer, you can get 36 months probation or up to a year in jail FOR SLAPPING SOMEONE!!! If you suffer hearing loss, that's a felony assault that carries a much longer probation sentence or jail term. The disposition in Chicago is an insult to the victim!!!

If it was a tough case to prove, that might make it a little more explainable. BUT IT WAS ON TV WITH 50,000 WITNESSES!!!!!! If I was Gamboa, I'd be pissed!!!!!!!

This is where serious reform should be made. We always hear about congress working hard, well this kind of thing is what they should focus on first.

It's a sad state of affairs when that guy basically got away with it.

Hey Leiter, can't Gamboa sue for damages? I mean he did suffer a loss of hearing. I would think he could at least take every nickel and every posession from that scumbag who attacked him. I know I would.

not to get too political, but the liberals are at fault for why we are so lenient with criminals. way too many liberal judges that view criminals as their own victims and give them slaps on the wrist. those 2 that attacked gamboa deserve to die probably more than they deserve to not go to jail
