Too bad about the Infinity loophole.

In a massive battle for WHIP, and ERA in my H2H league, and my opponet had Rodney from DET in tonight. He walks two, and gets yanked. Only scoring INF on the WHIP. So his WHIP did not rise. Dangit! If only he could have recorded one paltry out, I would have taken the lead in WHIP for the time being. It really would have helped. :(

His WHIP should have risen. It probally wasn't enough to effect the total.

it maxes out his ERA and WHIP at 82 or 108 for ERA and 12 i believe for WHIP

Yea....I don't quite understand the INF when you don't record an out. How much does it affect your era/whip.......

ok then.. it must post those maxed out numbers at a later time then or something cuz as of now on stat tracker both ERA and WHIP are just labeled INF.

I think your right though.. now I remember seeing those max numbers before.. like you said.. It's like 108 something then something else

For example, lets see up until now, your team has pitched 10 innings and has allowed 10 (hits + BB) for a WHIP of 1. Rodney pitches tonight, giving up 2 BB while recording 0 Inn. So now you have 10 innings and 12 (Hits +BB) for a WHIP of 1.2 .

Thats how it works. You probably had way more then 10 innings for the week so the difference wouldnt have mattered, like 42 BB+H over 40 innings isnt that much different than 40 BB+H over 40 innings.

Come on guys. The ERA and WHIP of your pitchers is not the average of their stats. Instead, yahoo calculates the ERA and WHIP of all your pitchers combined. In other words, it is sum of all earned runs/innings pitched for all your pitchers to calculate ERA. It is not just the average of their ERA.

If it were, then relievers would have an enormous impact on your stats.
