Sorry I just had to vent here. There is some strange thing that happens in my office. Whenever someone buys a cake for any sort of event; birthday, new promotion, holliday, etc.. it always has a layer of fruit filling in it. And 99% of the time that fruit filling is raspberry.
Now this is just plane disgusting. Raspberry fruit filling totally ruins my cake eating experience. Horrible. Who likes this stuff. It has like 1,000 seeds per square inch in it. Ugh. You really have to be a massichist to enjoy Raspberry filling in a cake.
Cake is supposed to be sweet and sugary with frosting and different flavors.
Fruit filling has no place in cake!! I need to find out who is buying the cakes and leave them a dirty letter. Its probably a really fat lady who thinks that if she gets some sort of fruit filling its actually good for her. Ick
So anyways please vote in my poll as I must know who really likes cake with a layer of fruit filling.
as for the raspberry filling, is it just a thin ribbon of raspberry, or is it a big gelatinous glob like in a jelly donut? if it's just the ribbon i wouldnt be against it, but it's not preferred.
besides, as the old saying goes, never look a gift office cake in the mouth

Even a thin layer ruins it for me. I mean I still eat it because its free food at the office BUT it still upsets me deeply
I wish they'd bring in a phatty cheesecake. mmmm cheesecak
Had snickers cake the other day. Really good. I think strawberry filling would be ok in a cake, but I don't eat a lot of cake so I can't be considered an 'expert'. Ask Knapp, he knows a lot about food.
When it comes to cakes, it's only Fudgy the Whale for me:
In any case, I'm totally in agreement here. I think the only thing that belongs in cakes is chocolate; that said, the only thing that belongs in cookies is chocolate chips. I mean, I know there are a lot of cookies out there, but nothing is better than chocolate chip, or some variation thereof. Additionally, adding things to chocolate chip cookies on detracts from their appeal; chocolate chip cookies are great... chocolate chip cookies with walnuts, while good, aren't great. Why add nuts, the chips are all you need? Oatmeal? This is dessert we're talking about, not breakfast. And I can't think of any horror more boring than the sugar cookie, or more pretentious and stupid than the snickerdoodle.
