The one category I can't seem to gain ground in is Batting Average.
It seems the easy solution would be to trade for someone with a high batting average. But you've gotta think the guys batting .330+, like Rios and Sanchez, can only go down.
So I think I want to target someone batting below their career average and hope they turn it around (Sexson, Helton, etc). But in the same token, I don't want to overpay for these guys.
Can anyone think of some good players to target to try and improve my team batting average?
Has anyone ever had a similar problem and found a good solution I'm not thinking of?
Anyone know anything about contact rate vs. batting average or where I can find info on that?
I'm in the same predicament and grabbed Pierre. He is hitting around .240 right now, and should raise that average up to around .290 by the end of the year (and get you 30+ steals along the way). You should get him cheap also.

You need BA help and you grabbed Juan Pierre. Good luck with that
Yea, because his average has to improve from .240... look at his career numbers. Who knows, when Lee gets back, that might give him some better pitches.
Ryan Freel is heating up, with his speed he could hit for a solid average. He may still be on some WW after his slow start.
Jose Vidro has always hit for great average. (when he's healthy) You may be able to get him since he has limited power and speed. But if you need a good average, he's a good guy to go after.
Mark Loretta is similar to Vidro, limited power and speed, but he will hit for a high average due to his high contact rate. (I think his career contact rate is about 93%)
