Dmitri checks in to the Betty Ford Clinic??

Sports Radio 1130 Detroit: A source close to Dimitri Young has told WDFN that the Tigers power hitter has checked into the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California. The Tigers would neither confirm nor deny the report, saying simply that Young remains away from the club for personal reasons, and have no further comment on the matter. Calls to Dimitri's agent have gone un-returned. Young was placed on the disabled list for a strained quadricep on May 23rd and has not been with the team. The Betty Ford Center is a well-known alcohol & drug rehabilitation clinic founded by the former first lady.

So let's retrace the fatman's steps. He makes his ABs clause in his contract then refused to pinch hit, affectively ending his season. Was he already drinking or drugging heavily?
Fast forward and he doesn't make it to pre-season tours because he is working with a personal trainer to get into shape. He then comes to camp in such great shape that he gets injured immediately. Maybe he was trying to dry out instead of work out?
Somehow he manages to put down the bottle long enough to swing and miss a handful of pitches before his renewed, trimmed down body breaks down and he disappears. He does however manage to spend some quality time with his girlfriend, now known simply as the defendant, or victim.


At least we can now take his picture off of all the milk cartons, he's been found. Or found out.

This is hardly a surprise. The only thing that would surprise me right now with DY would be seeing him get back on the field and stop being overmatched against major league pitching.
