Second straight day that he's not in the starting lineup but no reports on Yahoo.

3rd day out of the last 5...all againt RH pitching...

He is .377 against lefties but only .264 and righties, so maybe that is it...but still 7 of his 10 HRs are against righties.

anyone got anything...need to pull the trigger on kemp or thames if he is platooning.

He seemed to be cooling down so l dropped him for Thames... Thame his another bomb tonight, no way they sit hit with the way he's playing, and Monroe injured himself.

Don't jump off the bridge yet:

Lefties dominate: Melvin filled up his lineup on Thursday entirely with left-handed batters to ensure better matchups against the Mets' right-hander Orlando Hernandez.

"[Sitting Eric] Byrnes two days in a row for him is tough to do," Melvin said. "But the numbers would suggest that you probably want to get a few more lefties in there, so across the board, [positions] one through eight, we've got left-handers in there [Thursday].

"We feel like he has a few weapons for righties, not that he doesn't for left-handers. This is a very savvy pitcher."

Lefties have hit Hernandez at a .372 pace, compared to .213 for righties.

Switch-hitters Tony Clark and Jeff DaVanon filled in for Conor Jackson and Byrnes, respectively.

l rode Byrnes last 4 HRs, he was a baller for me... but he was cooling down, l like my Thames/Kemp/Alou spot starts for my 3 OF spot behind Abreu/Mags... but l could have been happy with Byrnes... just made a choice.

I would expect Byrnes to be back in the lineup tonight. He has a good record against Trachsel.

They would be crazy to start platooning again!
A. Sitting Byrnes these past games backfired, and they scored 4 runs in 5 games.
B. We all remember when Byrnsey made the allstar game 2 or 3years ago in Oakland, and he is back to that form....RIDE HIM NOW MELVIN...

I don't think he made the all star team. He was a finalist for the vote in the last guy thing but didn't make it. Also that season he was incredible for the first half and then went into an epic 8 for 80 slump.
