For those of you in shallower leagues who need speed, counting today that's 6 SBs in his last 10 games. And I remember a quote from him during Spring Traing saying he wants to run about 45 times this year. He said he thought that was a reasonable number given his 80% success rate.. He'll hurt your BA though.

stolen bases come in bunches, use him while he's hot.

One thing I have learned is too never take into account player quotes during spring training, players often make bold statements that never come true.

You should take into account every piece of information you get, including what players say in Spring Training. Now how much weight you give those statements is up to the individual. Brad Penny said this was the 1st offseason he really did conditioning training. I took that into consideration and he's done well.

Don't believe most of what players say during Spring Training, but if you "never take into account player quotes during spring training", that's information missed.

Last Spring Training Cliff Floyd said he was shooting for 30 SBs. Now THAT I completely disregarded.

I worded it a little different than how i meant it. I put little consideration into what they say, but I do take it into account.

Usually, it doesn't mean much though. ;-D

at the start of Spring Training last year, Shannon Stewart said he was looking to steal as often as possible. Didn't quite work out that way.

He's fine. I'll be surprised if he doesn't have an SB attempt in the next 3 days. He made a very nice running grab after the "almost" injury and looked just fine. Of the injury he said, ""It's sore, that's all. We'll see tomorrow."
