Something like that, point is, I have no problem with ARod getting pushed down to the 5 hole, he's horrendous with guys on base and in the clutch. I much rather have Mr. Clutch Jeter in the important 3 hole, and a guy who always gets on base in Giambi in the 4 hole.
If Melky can keep getting on base, he will be a very good 2 hitter behind Damon who also always gets on. Jeter and Giambi can drive them in all day long.
I really don't think that there is such a thing as "clutch". I see each player performing to their capability in every situation. The term "clutch" is applied by a partial observer, not the impartial one.
As far as the lineup goes, I think it could work as Jeter has been on in the zone this year, I would see Giambi getting bumped to the 5 hole and AROD staying in his role as cleanup. Not for any good reason other then to avoid the sore egos involved.
I was speaking in real life terms, not in fantasy terms...As far as Arod staying in the 4, Jeter in the 3 and giambi going to the 5, that would never happen. Torre likes to have it Lefty-Righty throughout the lineup.
Damon - Left
Melky - Switch
Jeter - Right
Giambi - Left
Arod - Right
Cano - Left
Posada - Switch
Phillips - Right
Bernie - Switch
you get the idea.
