M. Young or Blalock

Every one talks about Hank Blalock but Micheal Young has almost identical numbers. Why is Hank such a great keeper while people continue to still doubt Young. To me they both been about the same all year wich is pretty damn good.

Blalock has always hit and is considered the type of guy to challenge for the batting title. Young has never hit over .265 before this year and is 26 or 27. He's still a very good player, but not Keeper level.

So was this a break out year for Young or was is just a fluke? It seems like he's been hitting pretty consitently all season and I was thinking that he may be a good pick for a keeper league I'm starting in next year.

I don't know much about Young, even though I picked him up on one team earlier. From what I read from most columnist in those fantasy website, they aren't very high on him because of his plate discipline. But I see his OB% and slugging% have improved as the season progress, his OB% is about average among 2B. I think he should worth a lower pick in a keeper draft next year.

As a Ranger fan I can say the following about both guys:

Young: Arod does not want Young traded or replaced. He made that very evident in spring training this year. I think that gave Young a big boost of confidence, plus hitting at the top of the order gives Young some good pitches to hit. I think he will be a .300 hitter with a little pop. Something like .300-20-80 +100 runs scored. Not too shabby for a 2B.

Blalock: He has the potential to be the best 3B out there now that Pujols has moved to the OF. Very good hitter with plenty of power. Also very young, so he still has not reached his power potential yet. I'd say .325-40-110 with 100 runs is about right. He's got the potential to hit .340 and the potential to hit 50 home runs, but that is a few years away for him.

Both are going to be solid contributers on the Rangers for many years to come. Those are my thoughts on both players.
