I give all my pennies to my kid. He puts them in his piggybank and saves them till it full. Then he gets to cash them in and buy pretty much whatever he wants.

Nickels also cost more than they're worth to make.

We can't get rid of either. There is no point with technology advancing so quickly. We're heading very quickly towards a society that does not use paper currency.

Once your bank account is connected to you using biometrics I think you'll see a large decrease in street crime.

If nobody is carrying "cash" and the card are connected to their eye or their fingerprint why mug somebody? Same for buying drugs on the street. It might go behind closed doors, but it it'll be hard to conduct "bidness" on the corner.

its gonna really suck when that technology first comes out and crack heads start cutting peoples eyes out and bringing them to the atm.

Well, how would we deal with things that cost a number that doesnt end with .00 or .05?

Would we round up or round down?

If we didnt round, who would "keep" the difference? The company or the consumer?

This would amount to millions of dollars per year, too much of a difference to change, I think.

Millions, sure. But that only after its been added up over millions of people a little bit every day, barely distinguishable to the naked eye.
