Elmer Dessens picked up a save in a 9-4 win over the Mariners on Sunday by throwing 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.
It's quite funny that Dessens lost his job as closer last week after two poor outings, then picks up his first save of the season by pitching in long relief. Ambiorix Burgos is the closer for now, but none of the Royals' relievers have much in the way of job security.

Elmer Dessens has reportedly lost his closer job after two bad outings.
The Royals used Joe Nelson to save Friday's win over the Yankees and manager Buddy Bell indicated that he may turn to Ambiorix Burgos again. Of course, given how poorly Burgos has pitched since losing the job himself, that makes litle sense.
As I said...avoid KC closers. If the Royals MANAGE to win 40 games this year, how many you think are actually going to be saved? If they actually save those games, who you think is going to get 90% of those saves? Kansas City is a train wreck, if you need saves, you can always trade for a middle-of-the-road closer at the very least.
