"Oops, Kansas City isn't actually out of contention yet. We'd just grown used to seeing the shuttle from Omaha hit high gear in early August. The Royals are still very much about this season, which tells you what they think of Jimmy Gobble. With Jose Lima on the disabled list -- apparently forgetting to ask for eternal health when selling his soul -- the Royals summoned Gobble from Double-A, where he had a 12-8 record and 3.19 ERA. The highly-touted southpaw isn't a strikeout fiend, but he looked fine shutting out Tampa Bay on six hits through six innings -- throwing 59 strikes and just 24 balls." espn.com (out of the box)
Sit on this one for awhile.....the Royals are looking at GULP...Kevin Appier. Considering that...and the fact that Liima may only miss a couple of starts....and Gobble's immediate future is in question. See how the Appier think goes first.
