A dirty uniform at least shows hustle. Not sure I'm sold on his return though.

Gonna keep an eye on him. If Castillo ends up coming back to earth early, I'll grab Baldelli and try to rotate him with Hillenbrand to keep the hot bat system in my line up.

With Pujols gone, I'll need every little bit.

He's back!

"After the game, the Devil Rays reinstated CF Rocco Baldelli (hamstring) from the 15-disabled list and optioned Gathright to Triple-A Durham. Baldelli missed all of last season because of knee and elbow injuries."

I really see at most an injury prone Matt Lawton when I think of Baldelli.

The one thing I'm curious about is what position are they starting him at? I heard on ESPN they sent Gathright back to AAA, so that sort of leaves CF open - which was his position, but then again I could also see them shifting Crawford to CF, Rocco in LF, Gomes in RF...

They said he'll start in either LF or CF tonight. I'm guessing LF.

I believe they are going to use him in LF, DH, and 1B while giving him some days off each week. If they are taking this kind of approach I'm wondering if we can expect Baldelli to steal at all. Without his steals, Baldelli isn't nearly the fantasy player he can be.
