What is the deal with Hawpe?

His stats over the last 2 weeks:

38 At bats 2 Runs 9 Hits 1 Home Run 3 RBI 3 Walks .2368 Average.

I dont know if he is going to be an allstar but I think he will keep hitting around 300 and hit 25 to 30 home runs and drive in 90 or more.

Ill take that from my 3rd outfielder any day of the week.

He went 3 for 4 last night with 2 runs scored.

You know, truthfully, I almost wish he'd hit an extended skid at some point here, which would allow me to drop him with a clear conscience and pick up Huff. I feel like Hawpe's numbers are misleading and I can't convince anyone in my league to trade anything decent for him. But I can't just drop him: he's hitting .330! That's the highest BA on my team!

You had to have some idea he was playing over his head thus far. He's given the fantasy owner some great stats this season. Certainly a positive. How he shakes out?? Hard to guess for anyone. But hey , again, at least he started off kick ass!! He's a quality 3rd OF no matter how you slice it.

I'm having the exact same problem, especially since it is now apparent he only hits against righties and sits against lefties, so his value takes a dive.
His average has plummeted and he is getting sat a lot of games now. His power numbers are also down. It's not a good sign when they don't try to move him to the 3-4 spot in the order and just keep him in the back of the order. I guess they don't see him as quite the matt holliday2 that everyone thought he would be.
Isn't the guy still hitting .330???

I would hold onto Hawpe. Colorado sitting him versus LHP isn't that big of a deal since I am going to be sitting him against LHP anyway. ;-)

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I moved Hawpe in a 6 player deal this afternoon.

I traded Hawpe, BJ Ryan and D. Willis for Kazmir, C. Lee and Ray. I think it was a good trade especially since it is a keeper league and we get points for twb and ip.

I would, too, except I play in a weekly league.

Dumped him for Granderson.... Granderson's got power but way more SB potential and his obp has radically risen lately.
