Leyland's gotta be thinking playoffs. He knows if the Tigers make it, it's gonna be close. One game can make the difference against CWS, NYY, BOS, maybe TOR and CLE, who knows, for division and wild card.

Rodney's ERA has been under 2 all year. If T.J. has another poor outing or two, the bet here is that Leyland pulls the trigger.

Don't forget T.J. is 38 ... he might be on the slippery slope down.

I picked up Rodney a few weeks ago to lower my ERA and WHIP and get an occasional vultire win or save, I also had the feeling Jones' days were numbered.

i doubt it. i havent heard anything about it here in Detroit. 16 of 18 isnt bad at all, and if they had that much confidence in Rodney they wouldnt have signed Jones

I don't think that Jones qualifies as a solid closer by anyones definition. Certainly the case can be made that Rivera and Papelbon have equivalent value going forward so why throw in Jones to get him?

To begin the season, I had Eddie Guardado and Fransico Rodriguez as my closers. I quickly found myself last in saves, but leading in holds. Made a trade to land both Jones and Rivera and jumped up to third place in saves in a matter of a couple weeks. I no longer needed three closers, so I packaged Jones and Rivera to a team that needed two closers for Papelbon to sustain my saves while i regain ground lost in the holds catagory.

I just wish I had Craig Hansen in my minor league spot in case Papelbon was inserted into the starting rotation.

I wouldn't worry about it. Papelbon has been so dominant as the closer it would be hard to imagine the Sox messing with what has worked and been so successful.
