Dukes trouble is another reason why the deal wouldn't get done. From the Rays perspective they would be selling him at his lowest point. If your the Marlins your not quarenteed that he will come back to baseball (though I think he will, he has no where else to go), let alone stay out of trouble.
I think you need to read between the lines more when it comes to what they say about Delmon, they realize how valuable he is and would be very short sighted to trade him now. Also Olsen has had more run ins then just with Cabrera, I believe one encounter with a teammate lead to a black eye.

We're guessing that Meche wouldn't have made it to any National League team on waivers, so if he's being dealt, it's probably to an AL contender. The Rangers and Red Sox might be a couple of possibilities. The decision to scratch Meche means Cha Seung Baek will start tonight and be followed by Felix Hernandez and Jarrod Washburn in the rotation. Francisco Cruceta might be called up to join the rotation if Meche is dealt. Aug. 22 - 6:55 pm et Source: Seattle Post-Intelligencer
the rangers are no longer a contending team.
i would love to see alou go to the mets. they might need someone to accompany floyd on the DL. good luck

According to the Boston Herald, the Red Sox reportedly asked the Dodgers for Matt Kemp in exchange for David Wells.
If so, then Boston clearly doesn't have a whole lot of interest in actually trading Wells. Boomer must be traded by midnight Thursday to be eligible for another team's postseason roster.

The Red Sox have reportedly asked the La Dodgers for a package of players, including top prospect Matt Kemp, for David Wells.
Since Wells is the only top pitcher to have cleared waviers and is on the trading block the Red Sox have a monopoly on valueable pitching. Any team that wants wells is going to pay big considering the demand there is right now for proven post season pitchers.

He has been lightsout his last few starts, besides he has preformed under intense pressure time and time again (which more than i can say for most pitchers on contending teams).
Not going to happen. This rumor comes from the same source that said Jake Peavy for Mike Lowell, the same source that reported that the Scott Linebrink deal was done, the same source that, five minutes before giving the rumor, said that Tad Iguchi was the White Sox team MVP.
I'll crap a brick if we trade Kottaras for a 43 year old rental.
However, Padres team official Sandy Alderson said that the odds of the Padres making a deal before the playoff-roster-cutoff was 90%.
